Ghostwriting:

What is it?

That Prince Harry memoir was written with the help of a ghostwriter. Lots of famous or semi-famous people use ghostwriters, if they want to publish a book but aren't writers by trade. Ghostwriters can remain anonymous or be credited as co-authors. It's completely up to the agreement between the primary author and ghostwriter.

Why use it?

I've helped about two dozen authors with researching, ghostwriting, and editing their books. I know how to write in your voice for your audience. I've worked with clients who chose the ghostwriting route due to physical limitations, learning differences, or language barriers.

How does it work?

I help you get your ideas out of your head and into a book, whether you're writing a memoir or a non-fiction book to share your experience, knowledge, and expertise. You provide the ideas and content via interviews, and I use my writing and editing skills to tell your story or explain your concept.

Editing

It's helpful to divide editing into three buckets that assess content, style, and accuracy. If you're working on a full-length book project, you will need all of these:

CONTENT - Big picture: Structural and developmental editing

What parts go where? Does your story arc make sense, and does your content flow?

STYLE - Your voice: Copy and line editing

Does it sound like you? Is your voice reflected in grammar, sentence structure, and word choice?

ACCURACY - Nitty gritty: Proofreading and polishing

Final pass to catch any formatting errors, typos, or incorrect punctuation, and check research references.
